How to Cook Wensleydale Potato Bake

There are numerous cook books and magazines … and I think we all have a couple of them at home. But have you ever got the feeling that all their recipes are a bit artificial? I mean they are lack of something and not very tasty? If your answer is “yes”, then I would like to go on with my story and share with you the best recipe ideas from experienced and capable cooks.

Cheese pie

For example, this delicious Wensleydale Potato Bake most of you should remember from their childhood. Actually, my mom still bakes it from time to time and I can’t but remember those days when I was a child and the pleasure this pie’s smell was provoking in me.

So in order to make the pie you will need:

hour of your time and willingness to cook!!!

Ingredients

  • 5 large potatoes
  • 2 medium white onions
  • double cream
  • 2 knobs butter
  • salt and pepper
  • 150 g of Wensleydale cheese

How to cook

Take your potatoes, wash, peel and cut them into large chunks. Boil. Cut into slices and pay attention that it will the first layer. Make it in a medium oven proof dish. Afterwards, peel, slice and fry for a couple of minutes onions in butter. Make a second layer out of them. Place 1/3rd of graded cheese (Wensleydale!) on top of onions. Make the same layering once again. The final layer must be – potatoes. Finish with grated cheese, double cream, butter, salt and pepper. Bake in medium oven!
